About Us

It would be nice to have a Pinterest-worthy life, or at least one that looks good through an Instagram filter.  {Un}fortunately, the daily reality of life is often more akin to the "before" picture in a glossy magazine makeover spread.  Chaos is not an exageration, it is our everyday.

This blog is our attempt to carve out a little quiet.  A place that will stay clean and tidy for more than 5 minutes, a place to prove, if only to ourselves, that occasionally we manage to accomplish something tangible with our days.

We talk about the things that are important to us and share our experiences in the hopes of offering a bit of encouragement and inspiration.  We might even admit some of our failures so that others can avoid our mistakes (or get a chuckle) and there may be the occasional rant.

JORDAN AND SARAH

We are sisters.  If you would have asked us when we were growing up, we would have told you that we don't have much in common, but marriage and kids has brought out our similarities.  We don't always agree, but we don't disagree as much as we used to either.

Jordan and her husband have four adorable, and energetic, children under the age of 6; three boys with a penchant for mischief and one little princess who loves her "twirly" dresses and painting her own fingernails.

Jordan does her best to feed her family whole, organic foods made from scratch, but she has a weakness for Dairy Queen blizzards that sometimes derails her clean-eating intentions.  She is just embarking on her homeschooling journey with her two oldest boys and leans toward Charlotte Mason and Classical education methods, but the whole homeschooling thing is really just an excuse to have her own laminator.  Her greatest blessing is being married to a man who not only forgives the piles of dirty dishes in the sink, but actually washes them himself when he gets home from work (with biodegradable, organic detergent, of course).

Sarah is an oldest child whose own four children are forcing her into recovery for her perfectionism and OCD tendencies.  Her husband is also a contributor to this process, with a specific focus on developing her spontaneous, easy-going, and fun side.  Perhaps the greatest evidence of his success is that as they enter their 6th year as a homeschooling family, Sarah characterizes her educational philosophy as "Charlotte Mason-style Unschooling".

Sarah fell down the rabbit hole of traditional foods and natural living after the birth of her second child seven years ago and is striving to balance all the things she knows she should be doing with the reality of limited time, money, and energy.  Plus, she has a not-so-secret delivery pizza and Mars bar addiction that defies all of her dearly held food philosophies and sets a terrible example for her kids.
